Moment of Silence II

Thursday, April 14, 2011

OK, for someone who has, for the better part of his stupid life, worshipped a certain Schumacher and has always shaken fists, vociferously argued and annoyingly pontificated about his status as the greatest of the modern era, this was - above all - a silencing experience. What hasn't helped is that ill-advised comeback. When he announced his decision to go with Mercedes GP in 2010, there was one little shrill green baboon in my head screaming 'HE'S HAD IT', but I hit it over the head with a hammer and said to myself that there is no way Schumi is going to be soooo stupid as to come back at 41 unless he knows, FOR SURE, that there is more glory to be had.

Needless to say, the shrill green baboon is singing 'Sleep Now In The Fire'.

I finally watched 'Senna', after I had read several glowing reviews on motorsport websites as well as film sites and blogs. Let me tell you, my 3.75 readers, that I fully concur with the movie's tagline and that I consider myself extremely unlucky that I was never able to see him race, that my Senna experience has comprised only youtube clips and the shady VHS quality GP videos I found on PirateBay, Demonoid, etc.

In 1990, Jackie Stewart interviewed Senna for a TV spot. He was being his usual wet, cunt-y self: “If I were to total up all the previous world champions, you have been in contact with other cars more often in the last 36 or 48 months than all of them were in total.”

Senna was evidently pissed off. He shot back icily, “If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver.”

'No Fear. No Limits. No Equal.'

I abide.

Great treat to watch him make mockery
of racing potential,
Totally agree with you on the part that we are unlucky that could'nt
see him driving but what the difference its just one of (or may be the cherry on the cake)all the great things that we have missed just because we were born a little late than we should have (talkin about the ROCK AND THAT STUFF)hmm
was waiting for a long time to join a platform where i could meet some loyal motor racing fan hope u are one among those would love to get some advice..
