Choolaimedu High Road Blues

Walked down many a lonesome street
Looking for my baby
Dragged my leaden feet for miles
Crying for my baby

Oh vengeful Thiru, you can take my ghatam away
Make tamarind trees fall on this head o'mine today
Let my head below them filthy waters stay
Turn me into death sadder and pale and grey

Just don't rain my hopes away
Please don't rain my hopes away

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (thwack)

MICK F**KING TAYLOR!

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Endsems always mean the discovery of faceburningly sexy songs. And I thought I'd heard it all, when it came to the Stones. However, this uncut gem from the Sticky Fingers sessions has napalmed the shit out of me - Mick Taylor raping it for 6 furious minutes.

We miss you, Mick. Rumbo much.

The Original RocknRolla

Monday, November 21, 2011

I have been meaning to do this for a while - it's been so, so, sooooooo long since I even thought of writing anything here. But here I am now, sleep-deprived and slightly on-the-edge.
And I am not referring to myself as the 'Original RocknRolla' - I'm retarded, but I'm not that retarded.

Neil McCormick picked up some quotes from Keef's memoir, Life. Here's me unoriginally sharing:
'I never knew the chick.’ - on hearing of Princess Diana’s death.
'Put the f---ers in a pan and let them rock’ - his recipe for bangers and mash.
'Her Majesty. Brenda.’ - his nicknames for Jagger.
'I’ve never had a problem with drugs. I’ve had problems with the police.’
'The breakfast of champions’ - his nickname for cocaine and heroin.
'Passing the vodka bottle. And playing the guitar.’ - on keeping fit.
'I’m not putting death on the agenda. I don’t want to see my old friend Lucifer just yet. He’s the guy I’m gonna see, isn’t it? I’m not going to the Other Place, let’s face it.’
'It’s the height of impoliteness to turn blue in someone else’s bathroom’ - on the perils of taking too many drugs in hotels.
'I don’t think John [Lennon] ever left my house, except horizontally.’
'It’s like Mein Kampf - everyone had it, but no one read it’ - on Mick Jagger’s autobiography.
'Marianne [Faithfull] had no fun with Mick’s tiny todger. I know he’s got an enormous pair of balls - but it doesn’t quite fill the gap.’
“I used to love Mick, but I haven’t been to his dressing room in 20 years. Sometimes I think: 'I miss my friend.’ I wonder: 'Where did he go?”
'I’ve given up everything now - which is a trip in itself’ - on coming off hard drugs.
“I never thought I was wasted, but I probably was.”
'You keep your back to the wall at all times’ - teaching his Pirates of the Caribbean co-star Johnny Depp how to walk round a corner drunk.
“If you’re going to kick authority in the teeth, you might as well use two feet.”

Just in case you had any doubt as to who is the Ultimate Baap.

PS: The Stones are jamming in London after what has been a long, long time. In Keef's words: My basic thing is that he (Ronnie), Charlie and I are going to work together. Just go in and see if we can warm our chops up. And of course everyone else is welcome. Mick Taylor's welcome. I don't see why everybody who was a Stone shouldn't be involved.
It would be KILLER if the classic lineup would reunite for the 50th Anniversary Tour (if it happens). Please please please Tirupati.
